E-PLATFORM – GREEN ESCAPE ROOM

ASSOCIATION CARQUOIS, in collaboration with GBD SCE, will develop the online platform for the project, including a Green Escape Room designed to help youth workers engage young people with climate change through interactive activities. This online Escape Room will tackle the challenge of communicating the complexities of climate change to youth, who often hold misconceptions. The Green Escape Room’s content will be shaped by a needs analysis to identify the learning requirements of young people, focusing on understanding the causes of climate change and its future impacts. Based on these insights, the platform will include non-formal learning theory and guidelines to support youth workers in setting up, facilitating, and debriefing activities. The platform will feature games suited for various audiences, using methods like questionnaires, real-world setting games, and strategic exercises to promote learning through enjoyable, hands-on experiences. The Green Escape Room’s aim is to give young people a better understanding of climate change and equip them to address it in real-world situations.

 

The development of the Green Escape Room will involve all participating organizations, with AC overseeing the project. Each partner will contribute to the platform’s creation, ensuring logical organization and categorization of content. GREEN will co-supervise and enhance the platform’s content. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, digital tools have become even more important. This project will provide youth workers with access to digital tools and virtual environments that empower them with Green and Digital skills, while also offering opportunities to connect with stakeholders and expand their networks.

The GreenRoom game will showcase the benefits of game-based learning, which has gained popularity for its ability to transfer knowledge in an enjoyable and informal way. It is also effective in improving social skills like cooperation, critical thinking, and leadership. The GreenRoom’s main goals are to promote environmental protection, raise awareness about climate change, and encourage active citizenship. The game will feature rooms and pathways with questions and information on topics like pollution, recycling, and the circular economy. Players will solve problems and gather information to move forward, learning about climate change in an engaging way. The Green Escape Room is an innovative tool to raise awareness and foster active citizenship among young people regarding environmental issues.
